Turtles Restaurant on Little Sarasota BayĨ875 Midnight Pass Road, Sarasota 346-2207 I look forward to returning with my amazing wife Kristin, there is definitely something romantic about this restaurant, too.ĬALENDAR: The $9.99 Sunday brunch sounds like another great deal, especially when you factor in the complimentary bloody mary or mimosa. The vibe is casual and cozy but the restaurant still maintains a clean, upscale ambiance. SCENE: Locals arrive at Turtles during happy hour by car, boat, bicycle and flip flops. For a buck more you can get small plates of fried calamari, pizza, chicken wings, nachos with ground beef, fish bites, coconut crusted fried chicken tenders or a grilled gulf shrimp skewer. bar appetizers include beef tenderloin, grilled chicken, cheeseburger or ham sliders for $2. The dining deals at happy hour are also a most welcome anomaly on Sarasota’s most famous barrier island. It also comes with fried onion strings at no extra charge – the other options are regular fries or cole slaw – making this salmon sandwich one of the better deals on Siesta Key. (Staff photo by Wade Tatangelo)ĮATS: In keeping with the Cape Code theme I take another one of O'Donnell’s suggestion and have the “North Atlantic Salmon BLT.” It’s a good piece of fish grilled nicely with crispy bacon slices covered with tasty dill sauce on a light, fluffy sesame seed bun, a fresh slice of tomato perched atop a leaf of iceberg lettuce. The "North Atlantic salmon BLT" with fried onion strings and the "Horizons' beach ball" cocktail. A couple sips and, yep, I’m enjoying Turtles’ “little bit of paradise.” Kim O'Donnell serves me a smartly mixed concoction of Cuervo, Cointreau, house-made sour mix, and fresh lime juice topped with a Gran Gala floater, on the rocks with a salted rim. I go top shelf and get “Turtles Cuervo margarita” ($8). The tropical setting and matching décor prompt me to instinctively order a margarita. The restaurant’s motto is “enjoy our little bit of paradise.”ĭRINKS: During my inaugural visit to Turtles the other day I take a seat at the bar, in the cool of the air conditioning, enjoying the tranquil panorama of Little Sarasota Bay. Turtles’ has outdoor seating and indoor seating, both offering soothing views of the bay. Since 1986, this hidden gem across from Turtle Beach has served affordable drinks and eats in an alluring location marked by coconut palms and parakeets. Turtles Restaurant on Little Sarasota Bay is nestled along the water on the south end of Siesta Key. Turtles restaurant and bar is at 8875 Midnight Pass Road in Siesta Key on Little Sarasota Bay.
